Ying Finkle 's blog ::VW about to capture Small Car market








The               new               season               of               classic               car               auctions               begins               in               January,               when               many               of               the               major               auction               companies               will               be               holding               their               premier               events.

Combined,               Barrett-Jackson,               Goodings               and               Company,               RM,               Russo               and               Steel,               and               Mecum               will               offer               5000               highly               sought-after               classics               to               the               highest               bidders.

These               cars               represent               the               muscle               car               era,               exotics,               limited               production               models,               prototypes,               and               vehicles               made               famous               by               their               owners               or               by               their               own               star               power.

Barrett-Jackson's               Party               in               the               Desert,               scheduled               from               January               13-January               20,               will               be               selling               over               1000               cars               at               its               Scottsdale,               Arizona               auction.

The               Salon               Collection,               a               group               of               18               exclusive               vehicles,               is               expected               to               generate               a               lot               of               excitement,               and               several               of               the               cars               may               command               prices               well               north               of               $1               million.

Here               are               just               some               of               the               vehicles               from               this               diverse,               high-end               collection               that               will               be               making               news               in               the               New               Year.
               Duesenberg
               The               Salon               Collection               has               two               impressive               examples               of               the               legendary               Duesenberg:               A               1934               Model               J               Murphy               LWB               Custom               Beverly               Sedan               and               a               1929               Model               J               Murphy               Convertible               Berline.

Both               are               superior               examples               of               American               automotive               design               in               the               early               1930s.

The               more               noteworthy               of               the               two,               the               1934               Beverly,               is               stunning               in               champagne               gold,               with               just               the               right               amount               of               chrome               accents               to               enhance               its               beauty.

This               Duesy               has               never               lost               in               its               more               than               10               Concours               d'Elegance               competitions,               and               is               also               an               AACA               and               CCA               national               prize               winner.
               Delahaye               
               
               The               French               car               manufacturer,               Emile               Delahaye,               built               a               one-of-kind               coupe               for               the               1949               Paris               auto               show,               and               now               this               elite               car               is               part               of               the               Sweet               18               collection               at               Barrett-Jackson.

The               two-toned               Delahaye               Type               175               Saoutchik               Coupe               de               Ville,               with               its               custom               teardrop               design               and               Targa               top,               is               eye-catching               from               any               angle.

Its               interior,               which               is               fully               optioned,               also               has               14               karat               gold               plated               fixtures,               making               it               as               extraordinary               on               the               inside               as               it               is               on               the               outside.

Owned               by               various               collectors               throughout               the               years,               this               distinctive               car               has               also               been               on               display               at               car               museums               around               the               country.
               Shelby               Mustang
               Although               all               Shelby               Mustangs               are               considered               to               be               rarities,               the               Salon               Collection               includes               one               that               may               be               the               rarest               of               them               all               --               the               EXP               500.

Carroll               Shelby,               and               his               team               at               Shelby               American,               used               this               1968               coupe,               which               is               actually               a               Shelby               prototype,               as               the               test               bed               for               developing               future               Shelby               Mustangs.

Fortunately,               this               unique               part               of               muscle               car               history               survived,               and               is               the               only               existing               example               of               its               kind.
               Batmobile
               Few               cars               are               as               widely               recognized               as               the               Batmobile,               the               car               Adam               West               drove               around               Gotham               City               in               the               1960s               television               series,               "Batman."               The               well-known               customizer,               George               Barris,               created               this               flashy,               gadget-filled               ride,               suitable               for               a               super               hero,               by               starting               with               a               1955               Lincoln               Futura               Concept               Car.

Although               several               replicas               of               this               iconic               car               have               been               built,               there's               only               one               original,               and               it's               in               the               Sweet               18               collection               at               Barrett-Jackson's               Scottsdale               auction.

The               highest               bidder               on               the               Batmobile               will               not               only               own               a               piece               of               TV               history,               but               he               will               own               a               car               that               has               plenty               of               star               power.
               Mercedes-Benz               300SL               Gullwing
               On               its               own,               the               1955               Mercedes-Benz               300               SL,               is               a               Blue-chip               collector               car.

With               its               sports               car               appearance               and               signature               lift-up               gullwing               doors,               it               has               a               timeless               design               that               will               always               be               a               coveted               addition               to               any               collection.

This               particular               300               SL               is               silver               with               red               interior,               and               includes               a               matching               set               of               leather               traveling               cases.

However,               what               adds               additional               value               to               this               car               is               its               original               owner.

It               was               purchased               new               by               film               legend               Clark               Gable.

Imagine               sitting               in               the               same               seat               as               Rhett               Butler.
               Hemi               Cuda
               In               1971,               as               the               muscle               car               era               was               drawing               to               a               close,               emphasis               was               diverted               from               performance               to               fuel               economy.

It               was               the               last               year               of               the               legendary               Hemi               426               engine,               and               only               a               few               people               opted               for               the               top-of-the-line               power               plant.

This               was               particularly               true               for               convertibles,               such               as               the               Plymouth               Cuda,               because               only               11               buyers               ordered               it               with               a               drop               top.

Therefore,               the               value               of               these               cars               has               risen               above               $1               million,               with               one               Cuda               netting               over               $2.5               million               in               a               2010               auction.

Joining               this               year's               Barrett-Jackson               Salon               Collection               is               a               Plum               Crazy               Purple               1971               Hemi               Cuda               convertible,               with               plain-looking               hub               caps               and               no               flashy               exterior               marking.

The               only               clue               to               its               significance               is               the               large               hood               scoop               with               the               small               lettering               "Hemi               Cuda,"               which               many               consider               to               be               the               holy               grail               of               muscle               cars.
